Question by Daniel M: symbian smartphone “donwgrade-run” previous symbian versions?
Let’s say I have a Nokia Symbian OS 9.4 phone. Can I run older symbian application that were created for Symbian 8.0; 9.1; 9.2 etc?

Yes, it is called backward compatibility, but the app may not function optimally as the phone you have has touch screen while old apps are not necessarily equipped to handle touch events. They may not be ready for the big screen either. Many/most apps will however work ok.

However, the compatibility stops at v9.1, older apps are not going to work, they can’t even be installed.

Go to http://store.ovi.com and you will find plenty of apps guaranteed to work on your smartphone.
